Clinic's

Clinic's are two days long and run by Hayley-Grace Davis. They focus on a wide range of skills that suit any skill level from nervous riders, young/green horses or clients wanting to up skill their horsemanship, dressage, liberty work or jumping.

A lot of fun in a no pressure/supportive environment. The course is constructed so that it is mentally challenging for the horse and rider rather than physically. It is step by step .... with each session starting easy and slowly building, without pushing anyone over their threshold. It can become quite advanced for any horse or rider who is ready for more of a challenge, but regardless on if your a competitive rider, or just a happy hacker you will still get a lot out of these.
You will be taught correct horsemanship, and then will be challenged in a safe environment without being pushed too far. These clinic's are all about building trust and confidence regardless of the horse or riders level/ability.
Each clinic is different, so there is always something new to try for returning clients.

Clinic's are aimed more for adult's, but happy to include younger riders as long as they are self sufficient with their own horse or have an experienced caregiver who can supervise and help look after their horse in between sessions. (Anyone 12yrs and under must have a care giver with them at all times).

Riders do not have to be experienced, but must be able to look after and tack up their own horse. (This includes clients who are using one of Wake Fields horses.)

Depending on the time of year, you may have the opportunity to see or handle foals, weanlings, watch us braking in our homebreds or even see one of our wild kaimanawa's being trained. (or get to play with mini sausage dog puppies during lunch time).

Clinic Program

Saturday morning
Horsemanship

Setting the foundation for the rest of the weekend and dealing with any behavioural or training issues. Focusing on the horses body and improving their flexibility and movement, while building a healthy relationship with trust and respect for both horse and rider.

Saturday afternoon
Showjumping

The emphasis is on fillers! So whether your on a baby, need confidence yourself, or a competitive rider... we cater for all levels.
There are plenty of leading/walking options, and a full course of jumps which can be put up to any height.
So you don't even have to get on your horse, and you will still get a lot out of this! But to those of you who need a challenge, we can certainly get your showjumper thinking and desensitized to a lot more challenging jumps than you will even find on a course!
We also cater to those of you who would like to work on your barebacking or free ride jumping or simply want your happy hacker to be safer and more relaxed around 'scary' things.

Sunday morning
Cowboy challenge

This is very much about desensitising our mounts and having some fun in the process. All challenges can be lead, lunged or ridden, and if you really want to challenge yourself we can teach you how to do it while freeriding.
Whether your a happy hacker or a xcountry rider... this will build a stronger bond between horse and rider.

Sunday afternoon
Xcountry

We have many walkable options, for those of you who are nervous or have young/green horses to pre-novice jumps. There are some fantastic little jumps that include both water and ditches which will not put any strain on young horses joints, but also have some more advanced combinations to challenge the more experienced riders.
